OK — been on this thing for something like six months now and it's stuck on my phone, so figured I'd say something since someone asked me a few days back. Am in the UK, generally stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, just so you know where I'm coming from.
How I found it was actually embarrassing — I couldn't ever get my head round what an ew payout would be once you get five places instead of three. Basically I'd guess and then be surprised. These days I type the odds in before every slip, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator tool is the one I'm on daily — type in the price and your stake and it spits out returns straight away, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles returns, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, which is where I'd always lose track. Have a go yourself, it's here betting odds to probability and it's free with no account nonsense.
One thing that really changed how I bet was the geekier tools. They've got an odds-to-probability thing and it makes obvious the overround, and a kelly staking tool — I use half kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutch tool is handy too when I'm spreading across selections.
It's not perfect mind. Its layout is a bit basic — not much frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it's usable although the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. Also there's no proper app, it's a website and that's it — slight shame just flagging it.
So yeah. Doesn't cost anything, not plastered in adverts, works. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, try it — saved me a load of "wait, that's it?" moments.
OK — been on this thing for something like six months now and I keep coming back, so figured I'd write something up since a lad on another thread asked me last week. I'm based in the UK, generally do football and horses, nothing mad, for context.
The reason I started using it was genuinely a bit daft — I never could figure out what an each way payout actually came to when the place terms changed. Basically I'd guess and then be surprised. Now I punch the numbers in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.
Their single bet calculator tool is the one I open most — you drop in stake and odds and it spits out the return straight away, fractions or decimals. It also handles the multiples — acca and treble maths, lucky 15s, patents and yankees, honestly that's where I always lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it's over at betting return calculator and there's no login wall, which I appreciated.
What really made a difference is the more serious extras. They've got an odds-to-probability thing which shows you what margin's baked in, and there's the kelly staking calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutch tool gets used a fair bit when I'm splitting a race.
Couple of gripes. The design is pretty plain — zero frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it's usable though the lucky 63 breakdown make you pinch and zoom. Also there's nothing on the app store, just the site — slight shame but worth saying.
Anyway. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, does what it says. If anyone even now works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saved me plenty of arguments with the bookie.
Right — have been messing about with this thing for about six months now and it's basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I'd chuck my thoughts in since someone asked me last week. I'm UK based, mainly bet football and racing, small stakes, for context.
What got me on it was genuinely embarrassing — I couldn't ever work out what an each way payout actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. I'd just wing it and moan when the payout landed. Now punch the numbers in first, every time, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator is the bit I open most — you put in your stake, the odds and it spits out the return straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn't matter. There's also the fiddly ones — trebles returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, yankees, honestly that's where I'd always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it's over at double betting calculator and it's free with no account nonsense.
What actually shifted things for me were the nerdier tools. There's an probability calculator that shows how much the bookie's taking, plus a kelly calculator — I use half kelly as the full version is terrifying. The dutch tool is handy too if I'm covering two or three runners.
Not all sunshine though. The layout is pretty plain — no polish, it's clearly function over form. On mobile it's fine although the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. Also there's no app, it's browser only — slight shame but you asked.
Anyway. Doesn't cost anything, not plastered in adverts, works. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, have a look — saved me a load of arguments with the bookie.
